DC Go Digital with New Titans Show & Young Justice: Outsiders

New Streaming Service Incoming

By Alex Burns

Here's an interesting piece of news, according to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Entertainment are launching a new digital service in 2018 by teaming up with Warner Bros. Television.

With DC Comics properties already well represented on film and network television you may be wondering what heroes could feature on such a platform. The early answer appears to be sidekicks. The two shows set to launch the new service will be Titans and Young Justice: Outsiders, both projects focusing on teams of the more youthful heroes in DC's stable.

A new live-action series, Titans will be produced by Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, and overseen by DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns. Focusing Batman's protege, Dick Grayson, the series will follow this young hero as he emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. This has been a project long in-development as TNT originally looked set to move ahead with a series pick-up before pulling out around a year ago, with the success of The Flash, Supergirl and Arrow on the CW, there's always been rumours that DC Entertainment hadn't given up on the show, this new digital service looks to be the perfect launchpad for property.

Young Justice: Outsiders is a continuation of the Young Justice show that originally aired on Cartoon Network before being cancelled after two short, but very well received, seasons. Fan power really gave this third season the grenlight as continued streaming of the show on Netflix proved to DC that the audience was ready for more. For this new batch of episode the young heroes will face their greatest challenge yet in the form of a sinister meta-human trafficking organisation. This new threat spells serious trouble for a society now caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning not only the globe but the entire galaxy.

These new shows will air exclusively on DC's digital platform. The service is described as an "immersive experience designed just for DC fans."

There are sure to be more announcements on this exciting revelation so keep it locked at Cape and Cowl. What DC shows would you like to see on this digital service, is it even something you'd subscribe to? Let us know!

Dick Grayson is set to play a pivotal role in this new service and also his own solo film, check out our thoughts on how a Nightwing film should play out in the podcast below.
