WB Games Developing Two New DC Comics Videogames

WB Games Developing Two New DC Comics Videogames

What Does the Future Hold After Arkham Knight?

By Alex Burns

After the black hole left in our hearts after the finale of  'Batman: Arkham Knight' we're in serious need of another DC Comics superhero game to keep us going. It looks as though WB Games Montreal have just the trick as the developer looks set to be working on two more DC based properties. IGN located job listings on the company’s official website, advertising a number of open positions regarding the development of two AAA projects and here's the interesting bit...

“focused on expanding the DC Comics universe in the interactive space.”

We can take from this that while it could be another Batman related game there's the chance that we may see another hero take centre stage. WB Montreal have a pretty solid track record, they developed 2013's 'Batman: Arkham Origins' and while that may not have hit the heights of Rocksteady's titles, it was definitely a solid entry into the series. More recently WB Montreal worked on the 'Batgirl: A Matter of Family' DLC story pack for 'Arkham Knight'.

What would be your hero of choice to receive the big budget game treatment? Characters like Green Arrow, Blue Beetle and Cyborg would translate pretty well into the current Arkham gameplay model but if we're really dreaming then it's got to be the likes of Superman, The Flash and the Green Lantern corp. The Superman game has been hinted at for years, the characters varied range of powers has been causing problems for developers for decades and we're yet to enjoy a truly great Superman game. The same was said about Batman prior to this new age of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment so who knows, the Man of Steel and Lex Luthor were referenced an awful lot in 'Arkham Knight'...

It's going to be a fun ride while we wait and watch this story develop, in the meantime check out that classic WB Games Montreal 'Batman: Arkham Origins' trailer.
