Telltale Games Reveal New Batman Game

"All-New Series Starting Next Year"

By Alex Burns

This is awesome, Telltale Games have announced that they are developing a new Batman game series coming in 2016! If you haven't played any of Telltale's awesome titles, they've adapted 'The Walking Dead' Comic into two seasons of gaming joy as well as a 'Back to the Future' series and a tie-in videogame to 'Game of Thrones'. I cannot get enough telltale, I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since they revived one of my favourite games with their 'Tales of Monkey Island series. Since then I've been engrossed by their unique interactive story-telling experience where the choices you make in-game have serious emotional repercussions that stay with you long after the credits roll.

“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year,” said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games.

“This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

“Telltale has an established track record of creating award-winning content for some of the best properties in the world,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to working with the team as they deliver a new interactive way for fans and gamers to experience the rich narrative world of Batman.”

I can't wait to see Batman given the Telltale treatment and judging by the tone seen in this teaser it will certainly be a more grounded version of our hero as he tackles criminality and corruption as opposed to superpowered villains. I like that the developers are going for a more pulp noir feel, that harkens back to the origins of the hero way back in 1939. If you've played Telltale's 'The Wolf Among Us' you'll know that this studio can pull off a thrilling murder mystery story no problem and that only adds to my excitement to see what really goes on in Gotham City once the lights go out...
